This is a fundamental golf book for beginners who want to be comfortable on the course. According to the National Golf Foundation, 41 percent of golfers have an average score of 100 or above for 18 holes. While there are countless books to help good golfers get even better, there are few books for these "pleasure" golfers who simply want to have fun and not embarrass themselves. Instead of laborious text loaded with theory and tech talk, this guide contains hundreds of color photos that demonstrate golf's fundamentals alongside clear explanations. Photo by photo and step by step, this book covers: -Key basics like grip, stance, and swing -The different shots, including driving, chipping, putting, and sand shots -Problem-solving for issues like slicing, hooking, and topping -The rules and etiquette of this complex game. This must-have book will help both beginners and veteran duffers progress from putt-putt to two-putts and from slices to somewhere-in-the-fairway. But there are far better choices!
I've been playing golf for about 4 years now and found this book one that might be enjoyed by someone who is just starting out. It's a basic instruction manual with lots of pretty color pictures and a nice layout. Unfortunately the content is mundane with nothing to distinguish itself from some many other books of this type that have preceeded it. I think I'm being generous giving it a 3. Rather than reading a complete rehash of what's already been done a thousand times before I'd recommend that you get yourself anything written by David Leadbetter, Jim Mclean, Jack Nichlaus or Gary Player. I basically just turned the pages, went through the book once and found myself thoroughly disappointed thinking - nothing new here. Oh, least I forget Tiger Woods has a book I believe it's called How I Play Golf - this would be another much better choice.
Customer Review: A terrific book!
Complete, and yet easy to use and understand. A picture paints 1000 words, especially in golf. I highly recommend this book. It is already helping my game!
